A public version of the SPACE software is available for download from this web-page. If you would like to receive a more advanced version of SPACE, please contact us via space-support-ewi@tudelft.nl.

After downloading please follow the instructions in the section below. Also, be sure to have a look at the documentation. Especially, if you are new to SPACE, have a look at the tutorials. The documentation is mostly included in the download, but you can also find all documentation online. License information can also be found online.

Installation Instructions

To install the software, follow the steps below.

• Download one of the files above, which best matches your configuration.
• Change your current working directory to a location where you would like to install the cacd software. You should have write permission in that directory. Here, we simply use your home directory as an example.

  # cd $HOME   

  Note: it is also possible to install the CACD tree in a central place so that it can be used by multiple users. In that case, you probably want to become a different user (for example root or cacdmgr) before performing these steps.
  
  
• Untar the package using the following commands:
  

  # gunzip package-name.tar.gz
  # tar xvf package-name.tar

  This will create a directory named cacd in your current directory.
  
  
• Set your PATH variable by editing your ~/.cshrc file (or equivalent).

  setenv PATH $HOME/cacd/share/bin:$PATH

  Now, exit your shell, and log in again to effectuate this change in your PATH variable.
  
  
• Obtain a license file. This is discussed in the section below.
  
  
• Have a look at the documentation. Especially, if you are new to SPACE, have a look at the tutorials. Most documentation is included in the download, but you can also find all documentation online.

Obtaining a license

In order to run the tools in the CACD tree, you need to obtain a license file first. You should perform the following steps.

• Become the user that installed the CACD software.
• Request a license file by executing the following command (this will make a connection over the internet):

  # lictool -r

  Or use an explicit path, if your PATH variable is not set correctly. For example:

  # $HOME/cacd/share/bin/lictool -r

• Fill in the information requested by this tool (also your correct e-mail address).
• You will receive a message by e-mail containing further instructions.

Note: if the machine you are installing the software onto is not connected to the internet, or if you have a firewall installed that interferes with the operation of lictool, you can also obtain a license using a web-interface.

Also note: the license file is valid only for a limited time. After that time, you are asked to perform these steps again. For further information regarding licenses, please visit this page.

Note for Linux users: the license mechanism uses the MAC address of your ethernet card to bind the license to your computer. You should have an active ethernet network interface named eth0.
